The Sustainable Communities Leadership Academy is the peer-learning, training and technical assistance program designed to help communities advance, accelerate and scale-up local solutions to the global challenges of climate protection and sustainable development.
The SCLA’s website had overgrown its initial capacity for publishing ‘Workshop’ related content. Instead of overhauling the entire site and rebuilding it from scratch, they wanted to optimize what was already in place.
The SCLA’s content management system did not accommodate their current content demands. As much as we would have liked to rewrite the entire site in WordPress, that option was not on the table. Instead, we were able to work with the existing CMS system, and add in a few new features to accommodate the addition of fresh content. We also retrofitted a few side bar and ‘Upcoming Event’ modules to play nice across the website as they added new content in a dynamic way. The goal of this solution was to eliminate multiple calls to duplicate static content, and replace it with dynamic elements. The outcome is a more managable and efficient workflow that plays nice with their existing software system. This project is a good example of working within the constraints of an existing system, and making several improvements to enhance the software to accommodate an evolving work cases.
